Ephesus and Sirince Private Tour - 1 Day

Overview

Our tour of Ephesus and Sirince is for our guests who want to explore archaeological sites and experience local food and life. You will have lunch at a local home in Sirince village after visiting Ephesus and other places in the area.

About 3 years ago, we met a sweet lady there during a trip to Sirince. She welcomed us to her home after a brief talk in the driveway. Our guests were very glad that they had the opportunity to see a nearby home. We were having some Turkish tea, but she said we had to wait for lunch. Lunch was perfect and we had the opportunity to sample her home-made wine as well. At the point, she did not want to take some cash from us, but I proposed that she do that more frequently and make some money for her family.

We must travel about 20 minutes from Ephesus to get to the village, so we recommend this tour to our guests whose time is not limited, so they can experience the local food and talk with the locals.

Itinerary

Day 1
Ephesus and Sirince

Your Ephesus and Sirince guide will meet you in Kusadasi or Izmir (hotel or airport) and we will drive to the Temple of Artemis (One of the seven wonders of the world). After exploring this magnificent temple, we will continue our tour with Ephesus.
We will stay and explore Ephesus for about 2 hours on this journey, where you will see the key points of this sight, such as the Great Theatre (It is the largest in Anatolia and has the capacity of 25,000 seats) and the Library of Celsus (After Alexandra and Pergamum, it was the third richest library in ancient times).
After having lunch and tasting delicious Turkish cuisine, we will continue our tour.
After that, you will have a chance to see House of Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana Evi in Turkish- Mary, the mother of Jesus, lived the last years of her life, according to certain people’s views).
Ephesus is another 20 minutes’ drive to the village of Sirince, where you can have lunch in one of the local restaurants and taste plenty of wine types in the heaven of wine-Sirince. It is one of the places in the world that are famous for fruit wine after France.
You will tour the streets of the village, taste traditional Turkish coffee and wines made of fruits, visit The Theatre Madrasa that is conceived as a meeting place for both amateur and professional theatre actors, where they will come to do research on performing arts, work and rest, and a real meeting place where the audience and artists will have the opportunity to meet and discuss. There is a village of Math in Sirince where students come in summer and join an academic camp to learn Maths. Also, St. Demetrius Church is located at the entrance of Sirince village that dates to the 19th century.
That is the end of our tour and you will be transferred back to your hotel or to the port/airport in Izmir or Kusadasi after the trip.
